  1. set ffxi to compact keyboard (menu >> config >> misc 2).
  2. launch the bot from ACTools - anything else will be prompted.

Installation:
  1. Install AC Tools 5.3.0, the default settings are fine.
  2. Install CA3 to C:\CA3
  3. Install FFACT to C:\FFACT

CaRdIaN*AnGeL*III Instructions
Version 1

Quick Start:
  1. tell the bot /request.
  2. then tell the bot /start.
  3. use /add <name> to add each member in your party to the bot's list, the bot will confirm your entry.
  4. tell the bot how much HP your tank has with /sethp <hp>
Command Library:
    Notes on commands:
  1. the bot accepts commands via /tell
  2. after the /request is granted, the requestor becomes the current $masteruser.
  3. <name> is optional for all commands, if left blank the current $masteruser is assumed.
  4. typing <hp> to set your hit points is acceptable for the /sethp <hp> command.
  5. if the FFXI window is not on top the bot will pause.
/extrahate <percent> will set the bot to not cure the tank until at least this percent (or lower) is reached (larger cure spells = faster hate on the PL)
/request Tells the bot you wish to use it, bot awaits commands. No commands will be accepted before a /request is granted.
/release Allows another player to request the bot, bot becomes idle.
/allow allow another player temporary access to the bot. (use the file AllowedPlayers.txt for permanent users).
/remove remove a player from the temporary authorized users list.
/heal the bot will rest and recover MP, and return to PLing when done.
/sethp <hp> Sets the max HP of the player being PL'd.
/start Begin PLing, can also be used if the bot loses you, or to stop it from kneeling.
/pause pause the bot.
/add <name> Add the playername to the list of PPL to PL.
/tank <name> sets the bot to target <name> after casting spells.
/show Show the list of names the bot is currently PLing.
/clear Clear the list of names the bot is currently PLing, does not remove $masteruser.
/follow <name> Sets the bot to follow <name>.
/pos report the bot's current <pos>.
/ping just a HP/MP status report.
/leave disband the bot from your party.
/forcefocus prevent ffxi from losing focus. type it again to turn off. only available for the local user.
/cure1..4 <name> specify which spell, cure, cure2, cure3....
/buffs <name> Toggles autobuffing on/off. If you lose a buff the bot will recast it.
/tele <telepoint> specify <telepoint>: holla, dem, mea, yhoat, altep or vahzl.
/warp send the bot to it's home point.
/invis Casts invisible. will recast until told /invis again.
/sneak Casts sneak. will recast until told /sneak again.
/stoneskin the bot will keep stoneskin on. toggles on/of.
/blink the bot will keep blink on. toggles on/of.
/haste <name> the bot will haste <name>.
/raise <name> the bot will raise <name> (raise2 available).

Hello, i have been camping on this post for the last 3 or 4 days no hoping someone would ask the question, but now to bite the bullet

Its probably something simple, but the question is, when i run the PL bot everything loads up fine i know FFACT2 is functioning fine with the latest updates now

What actually happens is that it just sits there i send the bot commands and it does nothing. If i leave ACtool open where i can see it, its just stuck on the AUTOPAUSEDELAY section of your macro and wont move of that.

Plain and simple what have i done wrong, i have also added the extra part of FFACT code into your int file (wasnt sure where it really goes though). I think im close now, how close i dont know.

Thanks for your time

can you give me examples? what commands did you send? do you have screenshots? i can probably help since i know the script well.. but... i need more info.

if you have ACTool foreground, then CA3 is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. otherwise i am not sure why it would autopause. it only autopauses when FFXI is not foreground (via ffact) or while you are zoning (via object detection). look at the autopause procedure and see.

QUOTE
Plain and simple what have i done wrong,

i need more information to determine what is wrong. does the debug window show meaningful data in FFACT? Did you close it after you verified FFACT was reading FFXI?

um... extra code? i packaged up ca3 with everything it needs to run except ffact.exe and ffxiread.dll, i dunno what this thats all about lol.

Also, check the old CA2 topic for old support info.

I think thats what the problem is. but cant work it out. Ive played around with the ffxiforce to front thing with values 0 and 1, but still gets stuck on the autopause procedure. I use namesetter, to see if that works. Although i have tried with and without if that helps. I went back just to make sure i didnt miss anything from your old post that might fix my problem, but it seems that im the only noob thats had this one. Doh!

Cause of the autopause command it wont let me /request to the bot to give me control i believe. I do have ffxi in the foreground, but im not so sure, i would like to add a picture but it needs to be uploaded to a webby which i dont have.

QUOTE

You instructions are very simple to follow, so i use the /request (without password for now) and /start but no reply from the bot.

lol i found something out of your features requests tab on Source and decided to add it, but i removed it now, so that problem was me in desperation trying ANYTHING that might work. /slap <me>

Anyway im not to worried about it i just keep doing what i do and manual PL myself, until i can find what to do to work it out.

Thanks for you time again

Hiya cgrinds

I will work on this tomorrow. I think what I will do is customize a version of the CA3 to debug all the stuff you are having trouble with.

I also think its FFACT. Did the debug window of FFACT (not ACTool) show anything that was accurate? You also have to make sure you close the debug window for FFACT (it hogs up too much CPU, makes everything slow) when you see that it has started to pick up FFXI's data.

This very issue is why I want to add the FFACT detection. One other thing, does it say your playername in /echo when it loads? if it says 'General Error' than the problem is absotively FFACT.

Released 07/12/2006

[Downloads] [CVS] [Instructions] [Bug Tracker] [Feature Requests]

News:
CA3 now finds it's own home directory
CA3 will now save the state it was in (party members, tank, follow, etc) when terminated, and will prompt to load the last state at startup.

All-in-all this is a stability update, feature improvement, and allows for the CA3 to become much more than just a PLbot. In future releases, the CA3 will have modules for fishing, tanking, and more!

Nicest feature of the new bot is the autosave when you kill it. When you start it back up its as if it was never turned off in the first place. no re-setting up parties anymore! smile.gif

Im pretty sure FFACT2 is working ok, if i leave the debug window open for testing purposes i move and all these numbers start changing of my position. And it records any shouts and other random stuff which is above my head. hehe I do minimize it to tray though cause when i do leave it open, like you said its a CPU hog and makes me move jerky.

About 3 days ago on your first 1.0 release i had this problem with General error. Didnt take me to long to work out that it was a prob with FFACT not working so that was fixed real quick. It now comes up in console "/echo <name> has loaded in XXXX seconds" so i believe that its doing the right thing. What i proceed to do then is send it the /request command which doesnt work. I then maximize the AC TOOLS to see that again its caught in that autopausedelay thing.

Have a good one mate, the program i can see is sweet as.. Going to be alot of fun using this one.

Yes, it is working with FFACT.

Edit a text file (or create it if it doesnt exist) in the folder where you put CA3 called AllowedPlayers.txt. Make the file a one-line text file with your character's name in it (and the names of all the other characters that you want to have access to CA3 - one per line in the file)

See if that helps.

I will be able to do more tonight after 9pm eastern time when I get home from work (2 jobs sucks ass.. if ppl paid me to script for them i could quit one job)

o.0 I been playing with this script a bit and I figuredout the autopause err thingy...

its not keeping the window in focus ...

I have a fix go into the ffact.inc file and change

CODE

function ffxiwindowname
 call FFACT_GetData General.GetWindowName
end

to

CODE

function ffxiwindowname
 ReadRegistry Result = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,SOFTWARE\NameKatcher\,001
 ///HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NameKatcher
end

thats the code for my name katcher you can use name setter or the PID method also

another note I am trying to figure out why it keeps deleting the allowplayers.txt everytime it starts
cgrinds
I may have fixed those issues in CVS, but I will have to check and see.

I know there are still things that do not quite work (spellcasting/queue stuff) and I will get to them when I have time. I was away last weekend and did not have any time for development.

Also: anyone wishing to help develop the CA3, wether it be documentation, instructions, or scripting - please PM me and I will talk to you about it smile.gif

When the next version of ffact hits the presses, the new version of CA3 will be released. Current development of the 1.x line is discontinued and preparations for 2.0 have beugn. the cvs version will not be compatible with the 1.x releases, so if you download any files you will need to do some heavy modding - beware!

Look forward to the 2.0 release sometime in the near future, and check the ffact forums for release information on the new ffact smile.gif

Addition: Edgecom is writing a new EdgeFish that will work as a module of the CA3. With the new collaborative CA3 platform, it can be much easier for multiple developers to share the same project. I may still accept new developers for the HELM and Synthbot, but I think starhawk, edgecom, and I have everything else covered.
Future additions to the CA3 may include (or may not):
  • Navigation
  • Tankbot
  • Synthbot (looking for a developer, PM me)
  • HELM (looking for a developer, PM me)

I'm sorry... I have the same problem as the poster above... FFACT2 is workin fine and in the debug window it has all my info.... however everytime i run the macro i get 2 errors....

Macro line: Filereset filetest
caused error: File not found!
Module: init.inc Line:58

I opened up init.inc and checked... it was openin ffact.inc... which i found in the CA3 directory... so i put a copy in the ffact directory.... still doesnt work.....

after hitting ok i also get

Macro line: GetAttrib close_ffact
Caused error: " is not a valid integer value
Module: init.inc Line: 198

so i opened up init.inc agn... scrolled down to line 198... saw the it was callin the function listed in error... did a help search for the function... and it said this function requires the latest Decal and ACTool Companion.. and also ur macro must include companion.inc for this function to work.... however addin the include statment for companion.inc causes a whole slew of new problems.... {Please!} {Help me out!}

Problem: CA3 is not finding ffact.ini in c:\ffact\
Reason: you have the wrong version of FFACT.
Remedy: Find the newer one on the FFACT forums, install it, and the problem you are having with the fileread will go away.

I will add detection of the ffact.ini file and have CA3 display a dialog box to inform you of the wrong version.

I have:
ffact.exe 2.2.0.9
ffxiread.dll 1.5.0.103
actool 5.3.0 (I downgraded 5.4.0 when it wouldnt run with updated ffact)

idk if im missin something... and i have never touched the actool scripting before... but it seems filereset is a keyword for some kind of file manipulation so would filetest be a file? Becuz that file is not to be found anywhere on my PC.... But like i said... my first time ever touching this stuff was when i found this and the edgefish fishbot which didnt work either until i changed a few lines...

You have a version of CA3 that doesnt work with FFACT, and you also have the wrong version of FFACT. Click 'Download' in my signature for the newest CA3, and find the newest FFACT, install it, and the problem you are having with the fileread will go away.

The CVS version of CA3 (it will be released as V2) is incompatible with the current FFACT. I will release V2 after my issues with FFACT are fixed, (i think) starhawk should be fixing it soon.

The 1.x version is the one that works. You may click the links in my signature to report bugs, request features, check for updates, etc... Development is still going on for the 1.x version, so let me know what you need and I will see what I can do smile.gif I will work on having CA3 tell you exactly what is wrong when initialization goes wrong and make a debug feature for it. The init is rather complex now and alot can go wrong.

I'm sorry if I upset you... I guess I didnt read it right... I thought u were referring to part of the public release... now that I look at it (thanx for putting it in red) I see that the FFACT.ini is NOT part of the public release... i will go search for this file..... Thanx again....

i am getting the same errors as demoflash with the filereset thingie

If you're interested, this is a bit of helm code i wrote ages ago. It doesn't work (well - it isn't finished), but might be interesting. Much of it is spaghetti code though, so it's kinda hard to read some bits...:-P

it must just be me..i couldnt get that to work either unsure.gif i sure wish i could get somethin to work tho. i just dont understand what i am doing wrong
CyberPsychosis
FFACT.ini seems to be the problem, not sure exactly what info is in this supposed file, because it's not in my FFACT folder (FFACT2) but FFACT functions normal. I double checked the .rar from FFACT website distribution and there is no .ini in this file, nor does the updater DL this file which would make sense if the .ini was required to confirm the version compatibility of FFACT. I am talking to Wiccaan from the FFACT site to see if he can shine a light on this, because it's confusing me. Perhaps you can just make a empty text file and rename it FFACT.ini just to shut up the script that is looking for this file, which apparently does absolutely nothing if it even exists. If I'm wrong simple, just post a URL to the .rar on the official site that includes this .ini because I can't find it.

welp i cant seem to get any one the macros i have found to work so i guess i am gonna give up. sad.gif
CyberPsychosis
well I found the FFACT2 release that contains the FFACT.ini, it wasn't the link in Wiccans sig (where most people DL it from), infact it was archived from July 5th. The FFACT2 with the .ini can be Downloaded from the official site, here is the link.

http://www.ffact.botanybay.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=800

I haven't tested it in game yet to see if this fixes all the problems but this should help those as confused as I was.

--CP
krazy
that was the files i had found and d/led but the pl program still says missing included file .\ffact.inc could not be found

it goes between the errors:
cant find include file .\ffact.inc and the filereset thing

those 2 errors has made me wanna throw my laptop out the window
CyberPsychosis
Here is a new error for ya...

Error: Invalid offset 0 for list PARTYLIST

Module: PL.inc Line: 959

It appears that AllowedPlayers.txt isnt saving the results, it resets each time the script is run and only inputs the PL chars name.

--

On a side note I'm a little confused on the ver. order of the program, it seems to go out of order

it appears to go from 1.21 > 1.18.2.1

to be more precise 1.19 > 1.20 > 1.21 > 1.18.2.1

Am I missing something?
krazy
ok i got it running... but within my ff window i cant get anything to happen..i have all my ctrl and alt macros set i do the request and nothin. what am i not doing?
CyberPsychosis
I've been tinkering around with it, a few things I've noticed. Since it doesn't save the changes made to AllowedPlayers.txt, after I start the script I then add the name of the char I am gonna attempt to level to the .txt (when the script is stopped you will lose changes to the list). Another way to add someone is from the PL account do the /tell <me> /allow <name>. It says this allows temporary usage but IMO the AllowedPlayers.txt is also temporary since it doesn't save names you add there.

Another problem I have is when I send commands from another account they don't verify back in tells, but when I check the PL's screen confirmations are there via /echo, this is great but doesn't help unless you are able to watch the PL's screen.

At this point I haven't been able to get it to cure me, but the Bot did accept the /follow command.

Another bug I found and not sure what's causing it was... I sent the command /haste <name> and it didn't haste me, but it did change gear and rest O.o I sent the command again and it changed gear and stood up. Then it stopped responding, I checked the PL accounts screen and it was stuck in a loop saying... allow is already Allowed.

Can't wait til the bugs are worked out of this thing, it has really great potential Cg please keep up the hard work.
Rom30
Just to let everyone know (Thanx a million CyberPsychosis) adding that .ini to the ffact directory (which apparently does absolutely nothing) makes CA3 work flawlessly for me^^
meizme
Mine is also stuck on autopausedelay loops

any news?
krazy
i couldnt seem to get it to actually work in the game.i would get it to run but not respond to me typing /request or anything. if someone who has it working right wouldnt mind zipping all their files for ffact and the bot i would be ssoo happy to receive it.
Samhain
Having a problem with this. I have actool 5.3 and the most current ffact and ffxiread.dll. when i start the macro it almost immediately starts a autopause loop and i just get stuck there. please help me if you can.

I can provide an interface to get all required information from ffxi.

Been playing with this for a couple of hours. Its my opinion that the ffact isn't working right... although when i checked the ffact page there is no mention of ffact not working right now. However, no numbers come up in the ffact debug window when i run this script... so i'm assuming there is no data for the bot to run. I just get /echo General Error... which CG mentioned was a ffact problem. Was looking forward to using this... i used it a while ago on an older version and it was awesome.

Hello,

Just recently found your (cgrind's) amazing work on this PL'er. Looks very promising! Would be wonderful to have CA3 to help out when going back to the dunes/Kazham. Unfortunately it also seems that there are no current releases of FFACT that works along with CA anymore. These questions might hopefully interest alot of readers of this topic:

- Is there anyone out there that has a working configuration of CA atm?
- What parts are missing/needs to be fixed?
- Do we know anything about when this could be fixed?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping we could see this nice work up and running again soon. smile.gif

Yours,
sILKE

Answers: Starhawk has (repeatedly) promised a release of FFACT that has the items I need for CA3 to reign supreme again.

Notably:
1) a 'chatline-lite' which strips everything that isnt regular ascii and turns autotranslate text into parenthesised (is that a word) text.
2) the input/output method that my CVS version uses is not compatible with the released FFACT. I have a separate development version which does work but doesnt have item #1 solved, so I ceased development until #1 is fixed.

also, if I am able to find capable developers I will be glad to discuss working on the bot again, but I need starhawk or wiccaan to release the chatline lite for me on top of the new input method.

is anyone interested in the development of this anymore? If so post about it here - until then the CA3 is dead

(yes, I still play)

is anyone interested in the development of this anymore? If so post about it here - until then the CA3 is dead

but I do have something which works called 'CA3_Lite'... I made it especially for starhawk (he requested it) as an advance payment for chatline.lite.... I never got my chatline lite but the CA3_Lite was made! I will post some code here sometime, its nifty. Doesnt do *anything* except cure up to 6 ppl. no /tell commands, no neg.status removal, no nothing except cure.

its hawt... starhawk has told me so.

gimme my chatline.lite.

If you can give me a full list of everything you need to know, I can try to put together an alternative to ffact.

What do you mean by everything I need to know... there is alot I need to know biggrin.gif

The real problem is that the 'alternative' to FFACT needs to run independantly of ACTools, needs to be superfast, needs to poll FFXI constantly for new data, and needs to run in the background and send keys and strings to FFXI.

I had a version of the CA3 which used ACTools to strip the garbage out of the chatline, but even this was too slow for ACTools, and the PLbot was too slow to work effectively... even with most of the chatfilters on.

The biggest obstacle is the chatline, once that is solved the CA3 will come back.
